Guys… fathers… you’re going to thank me for this one! I recently had a chance to review a wonderful DVD called “Father and Son Talk About Sex”. It’s put out by Freedom Begins Here Ministries.

Here are some of the helps for dads on the DVD:
Sex-Ed 101 – Very well done. Funny. It touches the important stuff and the “skirmy” stuff without getting graphic.
Pornography – Funny and hip video to open up the discussion about the dangers of pornography.
The Talk – A self-paced set of slides to guide a father and son to talk about sex and pornography together.
Other Content – Some great videos for dad. Several testimonies of young and older men who have struggled with pornography and sexual addiction.
WHAT ELSE?
The DVD comes with a helpful guidebook and a CD to help you install Covenant Eyes on your computer.
The thing I like the most about this DVD is that it’s not one-sided: “Come here, son. Let dad tell you about this sex stuff.” It encourages a dad to engage with his son. It helps dad and son talk together. There are questions for dad and questions for the son. It’s designed to be a bonding experience. It’s also designed to take some of the awkwardness out of “The Talk”.

I have a preteen in my house. We’re getting very close to the time where we’ll need to fire up this DVD. I’m glad that I’ll be the one to get to have this great conversation with my son. The Talk is not just one conversation either, its a series of conversations I expect to have with my son as he develops, meets peer pressure and has his own struggles.
